In tonight's final quarterfinal matchup it was No. 1 Bowling Green (7-0) who stayed unbeaten and advanced to the semifinals over No. 6 Ballard (4-1). A back-and-forth opening two minutes of action saw five lead changes and three ties. It was a quick 4-0 spurt by Bowling Green that finally put the Purples back ahead 16-12. Ballard rebounded with an 11-2 run of their own to take a 23-18 lead into the quarter break. The Bruins went on to score the next eleven points pushing their lead to as many as 16 points at 34-18 just three minutes into the second quarter. The Purples fought back getting five points from Kyran Jones as part of a 10-0 run to cut the lead to 34-28 with two minutes remaining in the game. A Jamil Wilson three-pointer at the buzzer sent Ballard to the locker room with a 41-32 lead.
Ballard scored the opening basket of the second half before Bowling Green reeled off a 9-4 run to cut the lead to just four points. Two minutes later it was a Deangelo Wilson three-pointer that pulled the Purples within 48-50. Bowling Green couldn't get any closer in the third quarter as Ballard took a 56-50 lead into the fourth quarter. The Purples kept the charge coming cutting the Ballard lead to just one point in the opening minute of the final quarter. It was 8th grader Zion Harmon's old fashion three-point play that finally put the Purples ahead at 65-64 with 55 seconds remaining in the game. Harmon added a pair of free throws moments later to extend the lead to three points. Clivonte Patterson hit two free throws to pull Ballard back within one point with thirty-five seconds remaining. Jamil Wilson hit the first of two free throws but a miss on the second kept the Bruins trailing 67-68. Terry Taylor's free throw in the closing seconds pushed the Purples ahead 69-67. The Bruins had one last chance but it was thwarted by Marshon Ford's missed lay up.
Ballard was led by the duo of Jamil Wilson and Clivonte Patterson with 23 and 22 points respectively. Zion Harmon led Bowling Green in scoring with 19 points. Jarious Key added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and Terry Taylor also recorded a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
