North Laurel held off a third quarter surge from Eastern before advancing to the quarterfinals with a comfortable 72-56 victory. The Jaguars got off to a hot start from three-point range connecting on four early 3-point baskets to jump ahead 14-2. Eastern would battle back to tie the game in the opening minute of the second quarter but before a 9-2 North Laurel put the Jaguars back in control. Eastern cut the North Laurel lead from 14 points to 3 on a late third quarter run, but never got any closer. The Jaguars outscored the Eagles 21-10 in the fourth quarter. North Laurel was 10/20 (50%) from 3-point range in the game and a balanced attack saw four Jaguard score in double digits.
Ryan Davidson led the way for North Laurel with a game-high 22 points. Clay Sizemore added 18 points for the Jaguars and University of Kentucky commit Reed Sheppard recorded a double-double with 15 points and 14 assists. Jaden Johnson led the Eagles in scoring with 15 points.
North Laurel advances to Sunday's quarterfinals to take on North Oldham at 7:30pm. Eastern will take on Paul Dunbar Sunday at 7:30pm in the consolation bracket.
